Durham Days
Durham (formerly Dunelm) Days is a week-long celebration of our global alumni community. The week will consist of a series of events hosted by alumni, for alumni, with the support of the Alumni and Supporter Engagement team. Events have ranged from tours of distilleries and scenic walks, food and drinks in vibrant settings and grand gatherings at British Embassies.
It’s been ten years since the first event. The programme has gone from strength to strength. Whether big or small, the events are characterised by one thing – a sense of pride of being part of Durham’s global family. They are a great opportunity to catch up with old friends – and meet some new ones, so get in touch if you fancy attending – or organising – an event near you!
The ten successful years has all been made possible thanks to our dedicated team of volunteers.
We want to continue building on the success of the first ten years of Dunelm Days. Now is a good time to take stock of how far we have come over the years and evolve our celebration of all things Durham.
We are excited to announce that Dunelm Days will be renamed Durham Days and the next celebration will take place during Durham Global Week from Saturday 1 March – Sunday 9 March 2025.
By aligning with Durham Global Week, we will bring even more value to our global alumni community. You will be part of a global Durham movement that will celebrate Durham’s international reach, influence and connections. There will be celebrations here in Durham and, with your help, in many cities across the world.
We have created a guide to help you plan, promote and run your Durham Days event. This guide has been created with help from our Durham Days hosts from the last 10 years. We would welcome your additions to help our hosts in the future.
Your Durham Days so far...
We are delighted to see so much excitement about the new format Durham Days. We already have lots of events planned for 1-9 March 2025.
If there isn't an event near you, and you would like to organise one, either complete the form or email us on alumni.volunteer@durham.ac.uk
