Our people
We very are fortunate at Durham Geography to be a community of highly talented individuals working constructively with each other, colleagues from other disciplines and our students to improve the world we live in. A selection of our academic staff who are delivering both world class teaching and research include:
Sajag-Nepal
Nearly 1 billion people live in mountain landscapes worldwide. For many residents of these regions, living with the impacts of multiple hazards in mountainous regions, such as monsoon rainfall, earthquakes and landsliding, is a day-to-day reality.

Biomarkers
Testing new organic geochemistry (biomarker) proxies for past environmental change. The biomarker approach has been widely applied to reconstruct sea surface temperatures through geological time, but the organic compounds contained within sediments potentially provide a rich history of changes in degradation of organic matter and carbon storage.
Glacial landforms and changes
Recent and current research and supervision falls under the following four headings: Measuring and monitoring the response of glaciers to recent climate change. Reconstructing former ice sheet and ice stream dynamics. Investigating the formation of subglacial bedforms. Glacial landforms and landscapes on Mars.
