Event Details
The speakers will reflect on their own experiences of public and constitutional law, including its impact on Government and Parliament, as well as their work in the private sector. They will also provide some advice for those looking to pursue a career in public law. These speakers are:
- Sir Jonathan Jones KC (Hon) is a Senior Consultant in public and constitutional law at Linklaters LLP. He was previously a government lawyer for many years, latterly Treasury Solicitor and Permanent Secretary of the Government Legal Department. He is also a Senior Fellow of the Institute for Government, an Honorary Senior Fellow at the Bingham Centre for the Rule of Law, a Visiting Professor at Durham Law School and a Master of the Bench of Middle Temple.
- Alex Horne is a former legal adviser to the House of Lords EU and International Agreements Committees, barrister and visiting professor at Durham University.
- Emma Christie completed her pupillage at the Government Legal Department as an employed barrister. She moved to the self-employed Bar in 2024 and her chambers is the 36 Group. She specialises in public law and human rights, with the majority of her work being immigration, homelessness and judicial review cases.
