On 11th October 2024, Dr Stuart Jones welcomed the 2024 Cohort for Multidisciplinary Centre for Postgraduate Training in Energy (CPT) to the start of Michaelmas term. Our Multidisciplinary Centre for Doctoral Training in Energy (CDT) is one of the longest-running, largest and most successful CDTs at Durham University. Originally funded by EPSRC, DEI has worked to ensure that the CDT continues beyond the original research council funding.

We celebrated our tenth anniversary in 2019. The CDT has admitted 114 students (Jan 2024) from eleven different academic departments across the faculties of science, social sciences and the arts.

Dr Jones explained that the mission for this original CDT had been expanded to include all postgraduate training in energy at Durham University and had been renamed to the Multidisciplinary Centre for Postgraduate Training in Energy (CPT). He outlined that the purpose of the CPT to provide a stimulating and multi/interdisciplinary postgraduate training programme in energy, which will  produce a cohort of highly employable, skilled and talented researchers.

These are to deliver a challenging and broad ranging training programme alongside your specialist postgraduate research project involving world-leading interdisciplinary energy related research.
