[09/24] IHRR Director Professor Bruce D Malamud visited the University of the Philippines to discuss a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutes
The Director of the Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience (IHRR) Professor Bruce D Malamud recently visited the University of the Philippines (UP) and the UP Resilience Institute (UPRI) for research, workshops, and future collaboration. Bruce took the initial steps to formalize a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Durham University and UP, and met with UP President Angelo Jimenez to discuss this. A MOU could expand research collaborations, exchange programs, and resource sharing between both the Institutes and the wider Universities.
Bruce, UPRI Executive Director Dr Mahar Lagmay, and UPRI Education Chief SRS Richard Ybañez also met with the British Council in the Philippines to discuss this partnership. They were joined by the British Council's Head of Education Pierre Pecson, and Kristina Marie Sablayan. The Council is seen as a key stakeholder and a driver for improving academic cooperation between the two countries.
