The Institute of Advanced Study’s major project titled ‘Looking Back to Look Forward: History, Recovery, and Sustainability in Understanding the War in Ukraine on a Global Scale’ has been active in 2024. It explores historical, economic, socio-cultural, and health implications of displacement on the example of contemporary Ukraine and how these must inform efforts at reconciliation and post-conflict sustainable development. The project team includes Dr Hanna Ruszczyk, Assistant Professor in the Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience (IHRR), as Co-Investigator. The project team is dedicated to contextualising their work in multidisciplinary scholarship.
Durham's Institute of Advanced Study is a home for growing big ideas. They support a broad interdisciplinary community of Durham academics, where different perspectives are brought together to develop creative approaches to interesting and important problems. They host up to 20 Visiting Fellows per year, to work with Durham colleagues on collaborative projects.
