Responsibilities

The Director of Estates and Facilities is responsible for the delivery of the Estate Master Plan and other core estates functions, with responsibility for Accommodation and Commercial Services, Health and Safety Services and Energy and Sustainability.

Professional background and expertise

David joined Durham University in February 2018 from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde where he served as Director of Property, Procurement and Facilities Management. He was appointed as Project Director for the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in 2013.

Prior to joining the NHS, David worked in the private sector and delivered large-scale strategic asset management projects in the United Kingdom and Middle East.

Education and qualifications

David is a member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and, the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM). He has a Master of Business Administration qualification from Strathclyde Graduate Business School.
