Colleges, culture and community

Thanks to donors, Van Mildert’s library has been transformed into a vibrant hub of learning and wellbeing, doubling its study space, enhancing its IT and offering breathtaking views of the lake.

Your support will:

  • Upgrade libraries, social spaces, and study areas.
  • Enhance music, theatre, and sporting facilities.
  • Enrich the sense of belonging that defines Durham life

A significant donation by an alumnus of Collingwood College saw an extensive programme of building, development and refurbishment.

This included a floodlit multi-use games area, expansion and refurbishment of the gym, College bar and Junior Common Room, and the creation of a flexible performing arts centre.

Durham’s Colleges offer our students a close-knit, supportive environment
steeped in rich tradition.
