In March, we were named a World Top 50 international university by Times Higher Education and we have achieved a record 22 subjects ranked among the world’s top 100 in the prestigious QS World University Rankings by Subject.

A World Top 50 university

The Times Higher Education (THE) ranks Durham as joint 33rd – up five places from last year – in its list of the most international universities in the world 2026.

Our position reflects the proportion of international students and staff within our thriving University community and the global collaboration of our research work and our strong reputation among fellow academics around the world.

Ranked among the world's best

Durham’s previous best result, achieved last year, was 21 subjects in the elite world top 100. This year’s record return includes three subjects in the world top 10, and 10 in the world top 50.
