Hatfield College International Orientation Handbook 2023 v1

For OVERSEAS STUDENTS ONLY : written by your Senior International Reps this Handbook contains useful information about life at Durham, with advice and experiences of other international students to help you settle into the Hatfield community. It also includes an orientation activity schedule to help you as you arrive in Durham and settle into College before the main Freshers' Induction Week programme begins. 
Hatfield College Freshers' Timetable 2023 v2 This Freshers' Timetable has been produced so that you do not miss any of the super-exciting events we have planned for you.  In here you will find the times, locations and details of all the events planned, and there will always be Freps on hand to guide and help. 
Matriculation Photograph Matriculation ceremonies are held annually in the Cathedral to welcome new students to Durham University.  Students attend the Matriculation ceremony by College.  After matriculation we have an official photographer to take the Hatfield Freshers' Photo to commemorate the special day.  If you would like to order a photograph in advance, please follow the link.

Managing your Finances

 

Take time to ensure you have planned your finances for the duration of your degree. Details confirming what you need to do to ensure that you have made the necessary financial arrangements before term begins, the costs involved, along with information concerning the financial support options which may be available to you during your time at University.

Endsleigh Insurance Contents Cover

Take a look at the contents insurance which Durham University has arranged for you with Endsleigh.  Ahead of arriving, register with My Endsleigh, a personalised account area for your insurance policy.  Once registered, you can confirm the contents cover arranged by Endsleigh, then instantly access your cover details and policy documents, as well as contact the claims team at any time.

TV Licence

Decide whether you will need to buy a TV licence.  This is a legal requirement if you watch live TV through any means in your room. 

University Fire Safety

Fire Safety in student accommodation is extremely important for all the students at Durham University. Please watch our short video with some simple ‘do’s and don’ts’, on fire safety. Also, advice and information on items that are banned in your accommodation to ensure you are aware of all the risks, and know how to keep yourself and others safe.

Police University Liaison
