We compete at BUCS in three disciplines: white water racing, slalom and canoe polo. To prepare for these we run
fitness and training sessions both on the river and in the gym. Our canoe polo squads also play in tournaments with other local and regional clubs throughout the year.
We love adventure; running local white-water day trips on the River Tees and River Tyne, as well as residential trips to the Lake District, Scotland and Alps. These are a great way to get to know other club members. C
loser to home, we have regular chilled sessions on the Wear where there are a range of crafts to try out such as canoes, playboats and sprint kayaks. We run lots of socials, both spontaneous and pre-organised.
We welcome both competent paddlers and complete beginners. If you have never kayaked before, we have dedicated sessions both in the pool and on the river to build up your skills. Your first three sessions are free, so you have nothing to lose trying something new. During the week, we run a variety of sessions including pool sessions, flat-water river sessions, fitness and fun sessions; there is something for everyone.
We look forward to seeing you at our boathouse soon!
Weekend away in the Lake District with Durham University Canoe Club. Lots of swims, good company and many smiles.
