Clay Pigeon Shooting

President: Flora Swinburne
Vice President: Archie Mackesy

Durham University Clay Pigeon Club (DUCPC) offers social and competitive shooting for both the beginner and experienced shot. We aim to introduce shooting in an affordable and accessible way and run taster sessions at the beginning of the year as a sort of ‘try before you buy’ scheme. With weekly Wednesday shooting at Thimbleby Shooting ground in North Yorkshire, there is plenty of opportunity to get some lead in the air in a beautiful area of the countryside.

DUCPC boasts over 160 members, highlighting the importance of the social aspect of the club. We host weekly socials, pub quizzes, club dinners and attend balls and competitions at other universities, from Brookes to St.Andrews.

The Durham Challenge, our own competition weekend, is the largest university shooting competition in the country which sees hundreds of students from all over the country descend on Durham for the Challenge, followed by the infamous Tweed Ball.
