DUWCC 4

Durham University Women’s Cricket Club (DUWCC) is an inclusive club that caters to all abilities. We have 2 BUCS squads and a development squad which train with ECB qualified coaches:

  • The 1s squad is for women who have typically played club and county cricket before university. They were the 2022 Outdoor BUCS Premiership champions and placed second in the Outdoor BUCS Premiership in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2023.

DUWCC 1

DUWCC 2

  • Our 2s squad looks to develop less experienced players and those wanting to play in a more relaxed setting. In 2019 they placed second in their league, narrowly missing out on promotion.

DUWCC 3

Training times vary but we tend to train 3 or 4 sessions a week to fit around academic life and other extracurricular activities. Training is supported by strength and conditioning sessions, physiotherapy support and a focus on sports psychology.

Facilities

The Racecourse: We are extremely lucky to play at The Racecourse, where Durham County Cricket Club used to play. We have been host to legends all around the world and the ground is an inspiration for those who want to go on to play at higher echelons.

Maiden Castle Indoor Centre: We are fortunate to use the incredible facility in The Sport and Wellbeing Park. Our training takes place here during the winter and has 5 lanes, Merlyn and BOLA Bowling Machines, and a range of other equipment to help our players develop in the off-season.

Performance Gym: We are fortunate to use the performance gym in the same facility to develop our physical fitness throughout the year with our dedicated fitness and S&C leads.
