Durham University Mountaineering Club is a fantastic club for everyone and anyone who is interested in rock climbing and mountaineering. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve never touched a rock before or if you’re a seasoned hardcore rock climber – DUMC is open for everyone!
Mountaineering is admittedly quite a broad term. However that does mean our club offers opportunities in all aspects of the sport. The DUMC can take you from bouldering in the Peak District to Sport Climbing in South Wales. You can learn to lead traditional routes in the Lake District or join us in Scotland to summit high peaks and climb frozen waterfalls.
Our club regularly climbs indoors at the Durham Climbing Centre where you can hone your bouldering skills. We also offer various courses throughout the year to ensure your safety. For those who do want to compete, each year a select team of Durham Climbers compete in various bouldering competitions around the country, including in BUCS.
