Durham University Sailing Club competes in a range of sailing activities, entering teams in BUCS events for team racing, fleet racing and yachting events. In their last team racing event, the DUSC first team won the Northern Division. The club owns a flight of fireflies at the closest training ground, Derwent Reservoir, which is predominantly where sailing takes place. Team racing training takes place after trials on both a Saturday and Sunday, yacht racing events are held in external venues and fleet racing enables you to compete in your own boat, at the location of the BUCS event.
Despite our main focus residing in competing, we also offer a range of activities to all DU students, such as our Summer Sailing week. This takes place at the end of exams where anyone and everyone is welcome to come along to Derwent to get a chance to have a social sail.
Angel of the North is the highlight of Northern team racing events, co-run by Durham University Sailing Club. Successfully open to 22 teams, the event offers high calibre racing at Derwent Reservoir.
