Durham University Water Polo is the largest and most successful university water polo club in the UK. The club currently has 3 men's and 3 women's teams, and caters for all, from beginners to elite level players. The men’s first team have held the National Title for the last 2 years, and the women’s first team were title winners in 2023, and runners-up in 2022 and 2024. As a club, they have topped the BUCS Water Polo points table for the last 3 years running.
The club has a great deal of international representation, with a significant number of players and alumni representing their countries in both age group and full international squads.
Our first teams have approximately three pool water polo sessions a week, along with 2 dedicated strength and conditioning sessions.
Our second and third teams have approximately two pool water polo sessions a week, benefiting from the coaching of elite international level players from the first team. Along with this, players have access to Team Durham circuits, S&C and physiotherapy if required. Many of the players also swim in their own time. Most players also enjoy the club’s thriving social scene through a great variety of events.
The club welcomes athletes of all abilities to join and if you are interested or have any inquiries then please get in touch via our Facebook or Instagram pages @duwaterpolo or by emailing our club captains:
