Each year Durham Centre for Academic Development (DCAD) prepares hundreds of students for life in their academic departments through our Pre-Sessional and Foundation Programmes. In addition we support those developing as Teachers of English as a Second Language through our MA TESOL and Applied Linguistics Programme.

We offer a range of options to help you develop and enhance your academic skills while studying here at Durham. We offer support and training in a number of areas including academic writing, numeracy, time management and the effective use of educational technologies.
Academic Development for Staff and Doctoral Students
We are keen to discuss any aspect of your teaching and student learning. We offer a wide range of support - everything from informal chats to full courses leading to Advance HE accreditation (HEA fellowship).
