GemArts and Durham University launch this year’s Indian Spring Colours concert series with ‘Resonance - Ode to Call of the Valley' , inspired by the legendary creations Call of the Valley and Valley Recalls, immortalised by Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia (Bansuri) and Pandit Shivkumar Sharma (Santoor).
These works remain milestones of Indian classical music, blending melody, rhythm, and atmosphere into timeless soundscapes.Continuing this legacy, Resonance features Ninad Daithankar (Santoor), disciple of Pt. Shivkumar Sharma; Saurabh Vartak (Bansuri), disciple of Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia; and Saleel Tambe (Tabla), a reputed accompanist across the UK and Europe.Together, this trio embody their gurus' spirit with contemporary sensitivity, offering audiences a rich, refreshing fragrance of Indian classical tradition. Presented by GemArts, Durham University and Musicon Now in its fifth year, join GemArts and Musicon at Durham University for Indian Spring Colours, to celebrate the season with a series of concerts showcasing the best of Hindustani and Carnatic classical music.
