Whether you’ve already used the Library a thousand times or you’re just getting to know us, we've put together the following information to help you get the most out of your libraries and collections this term. 

Our annual Christmas Tree Wish Appeal is once again helping Christmas wishes come true for local families. Students and staff generously donated over 260 gifts, that will now be distributed across County Durham through our charity partners.

From Saturday 14 December, vacation opening times for our libraries and study spaces will apply, with some closures between Christmas and New Year.

Due to essential works to replace the main doors of Bill Bryson Library, there will be reduced opening times during the Winter Vacation period and a temporary, alternative entrance to the building.

You can now access our latest digital leisure reading and wellbeing collections for free through Libby!

This academic year, Bill Bryson Library will be open 24/7 during our busiest periods throughout term time.

As of Saturday 22 June, we enter the University vacation period and will be adjusting our opening times at some of our study spaces.

Our book giveaway is back once more for Pride Month! Following recommendations made by Durham staff and students, new copies of selected titles will be wrapped and hidden in Bill Bryson Library. If you find one, it’s yours to either keep or to read and pass on to someone else.

Our Chat With Us sessions at Bill Bryson Library are back once again for Easter term!

Due to essential works, there will be a period of restricted access to some areas of Palace Green Library throughout April and May.

As we head towards the end of Epiphany term, we’ll be updating the opening times at some of our libraries and study spaces for the vacation period.
