Find your place with a Durham Masters Bursary
Broaden your horizons with postgraduate study.
Formerly known as the Postgraduate Student Support Scholarship, our Durham Masters Bursary supports UK students from low and middle income households who wish to undertake a Master's programme starting in September 2026. You can apply for a Durham Masters Bursary once you have applied for a postgraduate programme at Durham University.
Are you eligible?
Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria at the time of application.
- You must have an offer of a place on a full or part-time eligible postgraduate programme at Durham University.
- You must have been assessed as a home student for tuition fee purposes by Durham University.
- You must have been assessed as a home student for student finance purposes in your final year of undergraduate study.
- You must not already hold a Master's level qualification.
- Your household income as assessed by Student Finance England (or equivalent in Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales) in your final year of undergraduate study must have been such that you were awarded a Maintenance Loan greater than the "non-income-assessed" amount.
If you were income-assessed by Student Finance Northern Ireland (SFNI), Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) or Student Finance Wales (SFW), or if your final year of undergraduate study was before 2020/21 and you are not sure of your eligibility, please email grants.bursaries@durham.ac.uk.
