Many overseas institutions offer the opportunity to gain an international experience for a short period of time. These short term opportunities are typically in the format of a summer or winter school, which are usually around 4 - 6 weeks in length. Typically summer opportunities are advertised from January onwards.

There are a small number of summer short-term opportunities where we, in conjunction with the partner, are able to offer lower or no-fee places. These are offered via a competitive application process and the current opportunities are listed below. Students will be supported by the Global Opportunities team throughout the process.
A number of our partner institutions offer summer and/or winter schools. Most programmes are offered in English, however, there are a number where you can study in a foreign language.
These opportunities are on a fee-paying basis, organised directly through the provider. The Global Opportunities team will provide guidance where possible, however the onus would be on the student to complete any necessary application.
All fees and costs are payable by the student to the partner directly. These opportunities are listed below and are not eligible for Turing funding.
Summer School of Economics and Business | 29 June - 24 July 2026Four of the regular courses of 6 ECTS credits, taught in English, in a 4-week intensive format (choose 1 or 2) from Environmental Economics and Policy Analysis, International Finance, Global Marketing and Doing Business in Spain.

Summer School “Selected Topics in Tourism, International Hospitality and Attractions Management” |13-24 July 2026
A 2-week intensive course of 6 ECTS credits, taught in English. Topics include: Environmental policy and sustainable tourism; cutting-edge technology applied to tourism activities; human resource management; hospitality finance; exploring AI to better understand customer satisfaction; and culture, history, leisure, and attractions management in Madrid.

PKU Summer School | July 2026
Students can select courses focusing on yesterday, today, and tomorrow's China over a 2-4 week programme. Available Subjects: Climate Change, Popular Culture and Media, Business and Economics, Urban Design, Medicine and Health Studies, Classical Chinese Poetry and Folklore, Politics, Law, Robotics and AI. The programme includes socials and cultural outings. Courses are conducted in English.
