The IAS fellowship has fundamentally changed the way I think about the audience for my work. I have been involved in interdisciplinary projects and environments before, but the IAS challenged my thinking on a different scale: sharing my work with and responding to the work of scholars outside of my discipline on a weekly basis for nearly three months has made me rethink every aspect of my scholarship.
IAS Fellowships are offered both to established, globally-recognised scholars and earlier career researchers of outstanding promise. Each academic year the IAS will communicate a call for Fellows through its Major Project call (ca. November each year). The call for 2025/26 Fellows has now closed. A call for Fellowships (in conjunction with Major Projects) will re-open in November 2024 (for Fellowships in 2026/27).
In addition to the IAS Fellowship, the IAS administers the Addison Wheeler Fellowship which runs every three years for early career researchers. The next recruitment phase will commence in 2025/26 for Fellowships commencing in 2026/27.Please contact the IAS Manager, Linda Crowe, for further information or enquiries.ias@durham.ac.uk.
