Durham University’s Centre for Behavioural Science Research, Education, and Partnerships (CBS‑REP) has submitted written evidence to the UK Government’s recent inquiry on Food and Weight Management.

Current policies focus too much on diet and overlook physical activity. CBS‑REP also highlights major gaps in long‑term weight‑loss support, noting that stigma and emotional drivers of weight regain are still ignored. We call for evidence‑based structural measures - like sugary‑drink taxes and stricter junk‑food marketing rules - alongside safer, more inclusive activity spaces to make healthy choices accessible for all.

The submission authored by Dr Elizabeth Evans, Professor Carolyn Summerbell, Professor Milica Vasiljevic, and Professor Mario Weick. To read the submitted evidence in full follow this link: committees.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/147772/html/
