We aim to:

  • support the production of high quality and internationally recognised research on law and gender;
  • raise the visibility of Durham University's excellent research and teaching in the field of law and gender;
  • facilitate and encourage collaboration between colleagues in the Law School and the broader University who are engaged in work in law and gender;
  • continue and develop undergraduate teaching in the field of law and gender continue to attract and supervise postgraduate students in law and gender;
  • foster engagement between students and staff both formally and informally; and,
  • develop links with the legal professions, judiciary and activist organisations.

In so doing, we will:

  • strive to offer undergraduate modules in law and gender which are interesting, relevant and encourage the dissemination of research into teaching;
  • continue to supervise MJur and PhD students;
  • respond to Government consultations and disseminate research in a wide range of academic and non-academic forums;
  • organise seminars, workshops and conferences to encourage debate and discussion about important issues;
  • host informal staff seminars and enhance research support for colleagues working in these fields; and,
  • work towards establishing student-staff collaboration and networks.
