03/26] Researchers from IHRR and IGME are convening a session on landslide data and their practical use at the next World Landslide Forum (WLF7)
Researchers from the Durham University’s Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience (IHRR) and the Instituto Geológico y Minero de España (IGME) are convening an innovative scientific session titled “Landslide data in practice: what we have, what we need, and why it matters” at the next World Landslide Forum (WLF7).
WLF7 will be held at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Faridabad, India, from 23 to 27 November 2026.
The session is part of Theme 5 – Progress in landslide science and applications, and welcomes contributions that advance not only more data, but also better strategies for defining, collecting, governing, integrating, and using fit-for-purpose landslide and landslide-related data.
Landslide data include attributes describing individual landslides and landslide populations at a given time (events) and through time (geomorphological or historical records), across spatial scales from local to global. Closely related datasets include information on triggers and co-occurring hazards, impacts, as well as socio-economic and vulnerability indicators.
Contributions presenting advances, challenges, and innovative practices in the collection, integration, governance, and use of landslide and landslide-related data are welcomed.
Abstract submission, call for papers, and conference registration are now open.
