[05/24] The Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience (IHRR) hosted a one-day hybrid workshop on the many factors that affect road networks.

The workshop aimed to bring together experts in road construction and disaster resilience to explore the interplay of politics, governance, and physical hazards in building resilient road networks. There were 29 in-person and 21 online participants, including organizers and facilitators.

Participants spanned a range of disciplinary backgrounds, including human and physical geography, engineering, anthropology, and disaster studies, with expertise in several geographical regions across the world.

The workshop was organised by Dr Ellen Robson, Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience, and Dr Peter McGowran, Research Associate at King's College London. They are now in the process of writing a commentary paper that synthesises and summarises the workshop discussions.
