Infra Red Light Therapy Helmet

Dr Paul Chazot (Associate Professor in the Department of Biosciences and Fellow of the British Pharmacological Society & Wolfson Research Institute for Health and Wellbeing) has developed new clinical development programmes over the last 20 years with his captivating research having relevance to over 2 billion people worldwide. In this talk, Paul will showcase his work in drug and light therapy for neurodegenerative disease, which could provide options for the treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease and Motor Neurone Disease. You might have read about his infrared light therapy helmet in the news. Paul will also touch on other areas of his research including a trial to treat post-concussion syndrome, which is of particular relevance to the military and the sports world, and promising research into drug and non-drug chronic pain management, the latter which is already saving NHS resources and improving quality of life for many.

Our community engagement and student volunteering work aims to achieve three core objectives: creating developmental opportunities for our students, providing ways for the wider community to become involved and access facilities and expertise, and underpinning University sport with local clubs. Katie Binks (Student Volunteering and Community Partnership Manager) will describe how she maximises opportunities with a range of community initiatives and explain the impact of her work.

Your continued interest in our work and ongoing support are deeply appreciated. We hope to welcome you along.
