A new outdoor sanctuary for patients and visitors has opened at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Gateshead. The “Garden of Hope” in the Jubilee Wing courtyard has been created with support of Gateshead Health Charity.

It is good to see the QE intensive care "Garden of Hope" was opened last week (Grand Opening of Jubilee Courtyard Garden at Queen Elizabeth Hospital - Gateshead Health), a garden inspired by our WRIHW Enlighten project South Tees hospital ICU garden designed by WRIHW Fellow, Dr Laura Johnson (Healing Spaces, https://healingspaces.uk/), evaluated recently on our first year birthday. Let's hope this initiative of creating sensory open air gardens for intensive care communities proposed by the WRIHW Enlighten team can be adopted across the North East and beyond.
