Biography
Asni graduated with Bachelor of Laws (First Class Hons) in 2005 from the International Islamic University Malaysia and thereafter obtained her Postgraduate Diploma In Syariah and Legal Practice in 2007 and Master of Laws (Business) from the same institution in 2010, respectively. She later graduated with Master of Laws from The London School of Economics and Political Science in 2016.
She was called to the Malaysian BAR and admitted as an advocate & solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2006. She has approximately 17 years PQE with a broad range of experiences as an in-house legal counsel in multiple industries, ranging from telecommunication, broadcast and media, information & communication technology, tech-hub enabler, airport management industry to oil and gas. Additionally, her professional credentials also include her experience as a corporate practicing lawyer with a reputable corporate commercial legal firm in Malaysia and a brief stint with a frontline regulator of the Malaysian capital market, Bursa Malaysia Berhad.
Asni joined the Law School as a PhD candidate in January 2023.
Current Research
Supervised by Professor Bruce Wardhaugh and Dr. Pierre Schammo, Asni’s research focuses on examining the application of competition law in the Malaysian energy sector, with particular reference to the role of state aid/subsidy.
