Biography

I was awarded my BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences degree from Bangor University, where I stayed on to complete my MRes in Molecular Medicine. My MRes focused on synthesising novel genotoxicity testing methods for the safety assessment of nucleoside analogues. It was during this period that I developed a fascination with how genomic stability is maintained by numerous intersecting molecular pathways. As part of my course I worked closely with Cardiff University and I enjoyed the collaborative nature of working across different universities and look forward to future cooperation with other academic institutions as part of the BBSRC NLD DTP programme. As such I am excited to carry the skills I attained from these previous experiences into a research project regarding transposable elements of plant genomes, and presenting my findings in an accessible and engaging manner.
