Biography

I’m interested in the field of evolutionary biology and am currently doing my PHD at Durham where I’m looking at the development of eyes in spiders. I am looking specifically for the gene(s) that initiate development in spiders and then will be going on to see how this differs between various species. I have previously done my undergraduate and research master’s degree at Bangor University where in my undergraduate I was researching endemic species and their distribution due to environmental conditions on the isle of Sulawesi for my dissertation and in my research master’s I was researching a new methodology to extract both Trinidad guppy immune genes and parasite metabarcoding genes from the same mixed sample using hybrid bait capture.
