Biography

Juan Latorre-Ruiz completed a DPhil on interaction and metalwork in the Bay of Biscay at the University of Oxford in 2021. Formerly an early career research associate at the Institute of Archaeology, University of Oxford, he is currently a postdoctoral research associate at the Department of Archaeology of Durham University and a member of the Maritime Encounters research project (https://www. gu.se/en/research/maritime-encounters). His research focuses on late prehistoric Europe using metalwork as a window into its societies and transformations. He has participated in various archaeological excavations and surveys in Spain and Germany and is interested in combining big datasets and theory, bridging the divide between analytical and interpretative archaeology.
