Biography

Research

I am an MRes student in Dr Patricia Muller’s lab, working on cell-in-cell (CIC) structures in mutant p53 cancer cells. CIC structures are often found in the most aggressive forms of cancer, and are associated with enhanced levels of metastasis and chemoresistance. Research suggests that these structures can form when mutant p53 cells develop protrusions that extend around and eventually engulf neighbouring cells.

My project involves examining the uptake of beads, vesicles and cells by mutant p53 cancer cells, to add to our understanding of the process of engulfment. I am also interested in the cancer stem cell status of engulfing cells.
