Staff profile

I am a second-year PhD student at the Department of Archaeology at Durham University. My research is on Archaeologies of the Welfare State, understanding and contextualising heritage and archaeological interactions with Welfare State infastructure within the contemporary political and economic landscape. My project focuses on the study area of Walworth in Southwark, south-east London, where many of the 20th century Wefare State sites have been, are being, or are threatened with neoliberal redevelopment. My research focuses on the roles of the heritage sector within these processes, its ethical implications and possible alternatives for heritage practitioners.
