Biography

My educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from I.I.T. Gandhinagar and a Master’s degree in geotechnical engineering from Purdue University. I have about two years of work experience in engineering design consultancy, specialising as a geotechnical engineer.

My research experience includes working on experimental and computational geomechanics specifically working on strength and stiffness testing of soils and Discrete Element Modelling (DEM) of granular materials.

Research Interest

My research interests include understanding the behaviour of granular materials from a grain-scale perspective and understanding the relationship or transition between micro-macro scale behaviour of granular soils. The behaviour of granular materials under cyclic loading and understanding of key properties like evolution of fabric anisotropy and the effect it has on macro scale behaviour  will be a key part of my research. The broader picture is to understand the behaviour of granular materials under offshore environment to have a better understanding of the resilience of structures and their foundations built on it.

Research interests

  • Use of Discrete Element Methods to understand micro to macro beahviour of granular materials.
  • Cyclic loading of granular materials
  • Offshore Geotechnics
