Staff profile

Rebecca is a first-year PhD law student and research assistant/associate at Durham University. She is a member of the Centre for Criminal Law and Criminal Justice and Human Rights and Public Law at Durham University. She has a strong academic background and obtained a Bachelor of Science (Hons) with a high 2:1 (68%) in Criminology and Forensic Science from Northumbria University in 2022. She also holds an LLM with Distinction (71%) in Criminal Justice from Northumbria University, which she obtained in 2023.

Current research

Her research interests include criminal law, with a particular focus on the UK's Online Safety Act 2023. She is currently researching the protection for children offered by the innovative legislative provisions under the Online Safety Act and is supervised by Dr. Helen Fenwick and Ms Gemma Davies. 

Further research

As a research assistant/associate, Rebecca is assisting her supervisor, Dr. Helen Fenwick, on a project that focuses on offensive expression, particularly online.

Rebecca is also a research and data analyst at Changing Lives funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, the Adult Sexual Exploitation (ASE) Partnership. Her role is to ensure a body of evidence is gained to support the call for dedicated resource, longer-term funding and improved systems for adult survivors of sexual exploitation. Contact at Changing Lives: Rebecca.Craig@changing-lives.org.uk

Other

In 2023, Rebecca also became the founder and owner of Tutoroclock. Her online tutoring business provides a high quality teaching and learning environment at affordable rates for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
