Biography

I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Bath and received a first class degree in an integrated masters in Pharmacology, which included a placement year at GSK. During this time I helped develop a mass spectrometry based assay to prosecute solute carrier transporters as primary drug targets. I am now starting my Biosciences PhD in which I will be studying meta-genomic data of sequenced genes to identify proteins of interest, focusing mainly on lipases and proteases that could have potential in many consumer products, in particular skin and hair care products. I will then work on expressing, purifying and characterizing selected targets from this process. The most promising enzymes will undergo structure determination and functional assays for application in certain products.
