Staff profile

Yijun Yan is a postgraduate research student in the School of Education, within the Psychology and Education Cluster. She is supervised by Professor Jens Beckmann and Professor Nadin Beckmann. 

Yijun obtained her Master’s degree in Psychology from Renmin University of China. She previously worked as a lead teacher in primary and secondary education. 

Her PhD research project aims to conceptualize the philosophical notion of "Zhong-yong" from a psychological perspective, building on previous research. It will conduct empirical studies to test conceptually derived assumptions regarding the relation between cognitive flexibility and Zhong-yong Thinking. The findings are expected to advance psychological theory from a Chinese philosophical perspective and interventions supporting Chinese students’ adaptability abroad.
