'Explore More' Careers Week

Taking place throughout February 2026.

The Explore More Careers programme taking place throughout February 2026  is designed to give students insights into niche areas of industry and the varied career paths they offer. Through employer-led events and contributions from Durham alumni, we aim to showcase routes into these careers and highlight the key skills needed to succeed in each sector.

This year, we plan to feature careers in areas such as interpreting and translation, museums and heritage, charities and public services, wealth management, working for international organisations, and becoming an academic. Each event will carry the theme “So You Want to Be a…?”, offering practical advice and real-world perspectives from professionals in the field.

We are open to employers and alumni who would like to contribute to this programme and share ideas for topics or formats. Events will typically include presentations and panel discussions, creating opportunities for students to engage directly with experts.

If you are interested in taking part or have suggestions, please email us at careers.events@durham.ac.uk

Disclaimer

Durham University (Careers and Enterprise Service)  is committed to providing an impartial and inclusive service that supports all students to explore their career or entrepreneurial ambitions. On occasion, there may be businesses, industries and employers in attendance at an organised activity, event or fair with whom some of the university community might choose to demonstrate their disagreement.  We fully respect the right of students to express their views peacefully, and the University will take appropriate steps to manage any associated risks appropriately and proportionately.

Where appropriate, participating organisations will be asked to provide a risk assessment and ensure their representatives are suitably briefed and prepared for engagement with our diverse student community.
