Asian Access

We are excited to announce the launch of Asian Access, which aims to inspire, empower and support Asian Heritage students in Year 12 as they transition to starting their studies with us at Durham.

Asian Access is part of Durham’s summer school programmes to support students who are typically underrepresented in higher education, particularly at Durham. The programme will give students the opportunity to come to events and activities during Year 12 and 13 and an insight into what it is like to study with us! By passing the assessed summer school project, students can work towards a guaranteed, alternative offer from us as well as develop academic skills.

Asian Access’ Pilot Summer School will be taking place in August 2026 with applications opening in March/April 2026.

The content and structure of the summer school is still in development, but will be likely include:

  • Information, advice, and guidance sessions
  • A short residential stay at Durham
  • Financial support and first-year coaching.

Why should I apply to Asian Access?

  • Receive a guaranteed alternative offer (typically two grades lower) from Durham University upon successful completion. Subject-specific eligibility criteria apply.
  • Stay at one of our College accommodations, with catering, accommodation and transportation costs covered.
  • Experience academic subject and social taster sessions that reflect student life at Durham.
  • Engage with key information, advice and guidance for your transition from sixth form to university.
  • Connect, share and learn from the lived experience of Asian Heritage peers and current Durham University students.
