Asian Access

Asian Access is a new programme that aims to inspire, empower and support Asian Heritage students who are typically underrepresented in higher education to apply to Durham University.

The programme will support students in years 12 and 13 as they transition to studying at Durham, with opportunities to attend events and activities to gain insight into what it is like to study with us. By passing the assessed summer school project, students can work towards a guaranteed alternative offer from us and develop academic skills. Applications will open in March/April 2026.

Applications will open in March/April 2026 and a pilot summer school will take place in August 2026.

The content and structure of the summer school are still in development, but will likely include:

  • Information, advice, and guidance sessions.
  • A short residential stay at Durham.
  • Financial support and first-year coaching.

Why should I apply to Asian Access?

  • Receive a guaranteed, alternative offer (typically two grades lower) from Durham University upon successful completion. Subject-specific eligibility criteria apply.
  • Stay at one of our College accommodations, with catering, accommodation and transportation costs covered.
  • Experience academic subject and social taster sessions that reflect student life at Durham.
  • Engage with key information, advice and guidance for your transition from sixth form to university.
  • Connect, share and learn from the lived experience of Asian Heritage peers and current Durham University students.
