Our free conference is open to anyone who teachers Religious Studies or Ethics in schools and colleges.
This conference offers a chance to meet academics from the UK’s largest Department of Theology and Religion; to hear about new research and new directions in the field that are shaping how the subject is taught both in schools and at universities; to meet RE teachers from across the country; and to build better contacts between the secondary sector and higher education. During the day, there will be a range of presentations offered on subjects including ‘Why study Islam?', ‘The making of the New Testament’, ‘Creation, gift, and the environmental crisis’, ‘Exploring death to better understand life’ and ‘The slave trade and the ethics of climate change’. There will also be ample opportunity to meet and talk with academics and with teachers to discuss the challenges and opportunities for the subject and its place in the education system in the 2020s.
