Higher Education Teacher and Advisers Conferences

Teacher and Advisers Conference- 25 March 2025

Our free conference is open to teachers, advisers and support staff working with students in schools, colleges and sixth forms across the UK. Visit our campus and hear from our staff and students on topics such as widening participation, applying to HE, admissions trends, student experience and more!

  • Date: Tuesday 25th March 2025
  • Timings: 9.45am till 4.15pm, with an optional tour from 8.45am.  
  • Location: Teaching and Learning Centre, Durham University, DH1 3LS

 Sessions will include: 

  • Durham's commitments to Widening Participation and the new Access and Participation Plan (APP)- Jon Batty, Deputy Academic Registrar, Access, Recruitment and Admissions
  • Reflecting on the 2023-24 admissions cycle and what to expect in 2024-25- Richard Emborg, Director of Recruitment and Admissions.
  • Supporting your student's applications: the 2025 personal statement reforms and advice on references- Undergraduate Admissions Team
  • An overview of Widening Access Programmes at Durham- Schools Outreach and Widening Participation Team
  • Durham's colleges and the student experience
  • General CPD session delivered by colleagues from our School of Education  (topic TBC)

Specific session timings will be available soon.  Lunch and refreshments will also be provided.  

Accommodation

We can offer free accommodation to any delegate wishing to stay in Durham the night before.  This will be a single en-suite room in Collingwood College, including breakfast. 

Travel and Parking

For anyone staying the night before, parking is available at Collingwood College, on a first come first served basis.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer parking for those attending on the day. Information on parking in Durham can be found here: https://www.durham.gov.uk/durhamcitycarparks. For those arriving on the day, we advise using Howlands Park and Ride. Please note you cannot 'park and stride' and must buy a ticket and use the bus.
