This talk with Mike Thornton, author and son-in-law of Norman Cornish, will reveal highlights from the new book The Test of Time, telling the stories behind Norman’s paintings and offering unrivalled access to a slice of art history.

Combining historical moments from Norman’s life with anecdotes with his friends, family and supporters, the talk will share some previously unseen works and is sure to evoke memories and nostalgia from a bygone era.

Norman Cornish MBE (1919-2014) is one of the North East’s most celebrated and much-loved artists. His work is represented in public and private collections across the UK and abroad.

The exhibition Norman Cornish: The Sketchbooks was displayed at Palace Green Library in 2019 – 2020.
