On Monday 9th March 2026, the International Centre of Public Accountability (ICOPA) will be hosting the one-day conference 'The Charity Sector in a Fast-changing World'. We are encouraging all those working in, or interested in, the charity (and wider non-profit) sector, and the challenges that it faces, to attend this exciting one-day conference in beautiful Durham University.

Hear (and question) an array of leading, high-profile presenters (regulators, charity CEOs, thought leaders in the sector etc.) as they sketch out the sector and explore recent and forthcoming anticipated changes. Among other topics, they will focus on: delivering for beneficiaries, governance, and regulation and accountability.

Speakers include:

  • Debra Allcock Tyler, CEO of the Directory of Social Change.
  • Steve Beharall, CEO of Newcastle United Foundation.
  • Caron Bradshaw OBE, former CEO at the Charity Finance Group (CFG).
  • Daniel Chan MBE, Partner and Charities Leader, PwC UK.
  • David Holdsworth, CEO of the Charity Commission (the regulator for English and Welsh charities).
  • Noel Hyndman, Emeritus Professor at Queen’s University (and Honorary Professor at Durham University); member of the Charity Commission’s Charity SORP Committee (which steers the formulation of accounting and reporting for the sector) since 2006.
  • Amanda Lacey, CEO of Nepacs, a Northeast England prisoner-support charity.
  • John Mohan, Professor Emeritus at the University of Birmingham and former Chair of its Third Sector Research Centre.

Come along to learn and participate. A nominal fee is charged for attendance (merely to cover the direct costs of hosting the event). Further information about the conference and details on how to book can be found at: Event Booking: The Charity Sector in a Fast-changing World.

We hope to see you there!
