This webinar will provide an overview of sukuk structures, market developments, and their role in supporting sustainable finance and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It will also explore practical aspects such as structuring, issuance, and emerging trends including blockchain-based tokenisation. Designed for finance and internal audit professionals, the session will equip participants with a clear understanding of how sukuk can be effectively applied in practice.
As an instrument of Islamic capital markets, sukuk are Shariah-compliant financial certificates that serve as an alternative to traditional bonds by representing proportional ownership in tangible assets, usufructs, or investment activities, rather than debt that accrues interest.
Investors earn returns based on the performance of the underlying assets, such as lease income from ijārah sukuk or profits frombusiness ventures in mudārabah or mushārakah structures, thus aligning finance with real economic activities and risk-sharing principles.
