The quality of teaching and learning that our students enjoy at Durham has been recognised at a global awards ceremony.
Four Durham education projects were shortlisted in the QS Reimagine Education awards, including one that won a Silver Prize.
The Silver Prize, in the Learning Assessment category, went to our Digital and AI Dissertation Alternative project. This sees Marketing and Management students build an Instagram channel, create different types of content, and monitor its success using Artificial Intelligence (AI) research tools.
Led by Dr Angela Green, the project has been very popular with students.
The module 100% helped with my employability. Being able to tell people I had experience through a practical dissertation definitely got my foot through more doors than if I’d done a traditional dissertation. It also meant I could include a good chunk of it in my portfolio as ‘work experience’.
Also shortlisted for awards were:
- The Nissan Launch Programme, led by Sue Boyd in our Executive Education team, which focuses on developing Nissan’s emerging leaders. This was shortlisted in the Power of Partnerships category.
- Chatbot for Physics Tuition, led by Arin Mizouri from our Department of Physics. This was shortlisted in the AI in Education category.
- Empowering students: integrating online language exchanges into higher education, led by Penelope Johnson and Lara Escudero Baztan in our School of Modern Languages and Cultures. This was shortlisted in the Blended and Presence Learning category.
The QS Reimagine Education awards recognise innovation in teaching and learning across the globe. This year, more than 1,600 entries were submitted across 18 categories. By being shortlisted, our four winners were ranked in the top fifth of entries.
