I chose Durham as it is one of the best business schools in the UK, with a vast research centre and a good support network. The modules pushed me beyond my existing knowledge and challenged me, enabling me to broaden my economic knowledge and acquire advanced skills to set me apart. Following my Masters I will be joining a finance graduate scheme.
The careers team was there for me right from the start, helping me develop a strong resume assisting me with interview prep. I really appreciated this as I was seeking employment out of the UK (in Canada) and was pleasantly surprised to know that the careers team was well versed to help out even with matters concerning employment in Canada. Overall, Durham University provided me with an experience of a lifetime.
I was particularly drawn to apply for the MSc Economics course at Durham as it allowed me to indulge my passion for the environment and sustainability whilst affording the flexibility to select modules covering a variety of different economic fields.
One aspect of studying at Durham that I enjoy is the variety of work I have had. I never found myself doing the same thing, and whilst this range was challenging, it also spurred me on to work hard and allowed me to enjoy the course more. The Business School provides lovely study areas, whilst also having a canteen allowing students to spend long study days there without the trouble of moving around to different buildings.
I chose to study at Durham University Business School because of its fantastic reputation and wealth of optional modules that I would be able to choose from. I really enjoyed being taught by experts in their field and studying alongside like-minded and hardworking individuals. In September 2022 I will begin my career as a consultant at Avantage Reply – who specialise in financial services consulting.
