Shorter and Term Only Lets

A small number of colleges (University, Collingwood, and Grey) are used by the University for commercial trading during either of or both Christmas and Easter vacation periods. A limited number of beds in those four colleges are only available for 30 or 34 week licences.

Where such licences are offered, the licence fee is given below. Students allocated to a room with a shorter licence will be required to vacate the room for the relevant vacation period.

Please note that these shorter licences are not available on demand and are only linked to the limited number of beds used for trading purposes in the colleges above.

Other University Accommodation

Recognised (independent) Colleges

The two recognised Colleges, St Chad's College and St John's College, operate their accommodation independently of the University. Residence charges, periods of occupancy and catering may slightly differ from those published above. You should check directly with these Colleges for the most up to date information on their accommodation options.

Purpose Built Partner Accommodation

The University sometimes leases high quality accommodation in purpose built blocks in Durham City. This can be due to high student demand or when planned refurbishment programmes mean some of our College accommodation is unavailable for part or all of the academic year. The price of this accommodation can vary slightly, but the University will ensure that the charge for this accommodation will not exceed that of a similar facility and standard offered in College accommodation.
