Interim Principal's Welcome

Karen Langdon will be the interim Principal during Professor Tammi Walker's research leave. She will assume all principal duties until Tammi returns.

Principal's Message

Welcome from the Principal

Welcome and congratulations on gaining a place at St Cuthbert’s Society. You are joining one of the oldest and friendliest student communities in Durham.

At St Cuthbert’s Society (generally known as Cuth’s) we are proud to cater for a diverse range of students. Our welcoming and friendly atmosphere forms the foundations of our offer to you; a world class student experience, during which we will support you to achieve your maximum potential.

Cuth’s may lay claim to be one of Durham’s oldest colleges, and we are strong on tradition, and proud of our heritage. But we are also a very modern forward-looking college, willing to do things a little differently and embrace change. We will provide the support you need to make the most of your student years at Cuth’s and to enjoy Durham to the full.

I’m excited to meet you all upon my return from research leave in early 2025. Until then, please join me in wishing Karen Langdon the best of luck as interim Principal!

With very best wishes,

Tammi Walker

Principal of St Cuthbert's Society and Professor of Forensic Psychology

Your first week in Durham – University Induction Week Events Timetable

The Timetable has been designed so College events don’t clash with any of your academic departmental events, but offer you lots of opportunities to meet your fellow Freshers, find your way around and settle into student life.

To help you keep track of where you need to be, and what you need to do during your first busy days at university, in your College and your Department, we have created a day-by-day University Induction Planner. This should help you to plan your schedule, so you don't miss anything - from being issued with your Campus Card or meeting the staff in your Department, to trying out for a sports team or joining a student society.
