e college to everyone on the achievements that have led to the award of a place at Durham and at St. Mary’s. The college’s friendly and welcoming atmosphere is the result of a team of wonderful staff, students, alumni and friends of the College working together to create the Mary’s community.
Transitioning to University can be a daunting process but you can expect to hear from College each week with key onboarding information between now and your arrival at College. Our freshers reps, staff and mentors are ready to introduce you to life in College, in the University, in the city and the region.
We are all looking forward to meeting you and helping you get the most out of life at Mary’s.

Welcome to Mary’s! I am so pleased you will be joining the fantastic community of the JCR. Within our Junior Common Room, the body which represents all undergraduate students, you can expect incredible formal dinners and balls, along with many amazing societies and sports teams to get involved with. There are so many opportunities to try new things, or continue hobbies you already have. Whatever it is you are interested in, within Mary's there's a place for you to explore your passion. We do everything in a kind, warm and welcoming manner, from your move-in day all the way through the year. I hope you get as much out of Mary's as I have, and I can't wait to see you around college soon!
