Durham Law School is a top 60 QS (2025) world-ranked law school and our research was ranked 12th in the UK's last national Research Excellence Framework in 2021. We are home to eleven research groups – creating critical mass in key research areas with a highly active series of events and collaborations.

We are internationally recognised across several key research clusters including Public Law and Human Rights, Commercial and Corporate Law, EU and International Law, Biolaw and Chinese Law.

Our teaching is award-winning, passionate and research-led. We bring the latest insights from our scholarship and policy work directly into the classroom. We are committed to small-group teaching through seminars and tutorials. Our intellectual community includes an international body of academic staff working alongside a vibrant cohort of postgraduate research students.
